Book of the Week Review: Settle For More by Megyn Kelly

Alright folks, grab your squeegees and get ready—I’ve just wrapped up “Settle For More” by Megyn Kelly, and it’s got all the makings of a blockbuster! This book is like a well-cleaned window: clear, revealing, and with a few surprise reflections that make you stop and think. Now, I’ll admit, I didn’t expect to be pulled into it emotionally, but man, Megyn brought the heat! This book’s got it all—career pivots, personal triumphs, and a good ol’ dust-up with a certain someone who knows his way around controversy (cough Trump cough).

Megyn kicks things off by painting a picture of her early life. She grew up in a working-class family in upstate New York, Syracuse area to be more exact!  Her mom who was a nurse and a dad  taught at a local college. She describes her dad as her rock—full of wit and wisdom!  Add in the siblings and her early years in Dewitt—and you can feel the love from her words as if she was speaking to you directly! impact his loss had on her when he passed away suddenly while she was just a teenager. That moment didn’t just break her heart—it lit a fire in her to make the most out of life. She wasn’t going to settle for anything less than what she knew she was capable of, and from that point on, her drive kicked into overdrive.

Rewind to her school days, where Megyn faced bullies with the kind of grit that makes you think, “I want her on my debate team!” Those bullies might have tried to knock her down, but instead, they helped build her resilience. Add the emotional gut punch of losing her dad, and it’s no wonder she became a force to be reckoned with.

Now, let’s talk career! Megyn was a successful lawyer, living that corporate life, making bank—but guess what? She wasn’t happy. So what does she do? She up and leaves her six-figure salary to become a news anchor. Most people would call that crazy, but I call it bold—and you know I love bold moves! You gotta respect someone who follows their gut, even if it’s a leap into something totally different. And look where it got her—right to the top.

Of course, we can’t skip over the chapter where she took on Donald Trump. Megyn’s in the middle of a debate, asking tough questions, and then boom—suddenly she’s in a public feud with one of the most powerful men on the planet. Did she back down? Not a chance. She stood her ground and handled it like a champ. Let’s just say, if I ever get into a face-off like that, I’m calling Megyn for backup.

At its core, Settle For More is more than just a “how I made it” story—it’s about never letting anyone or anything stop you from chasing your potential. It’s about taking risks, facing your fears head-on, and walking away from what’s comfortable if it means you’ll be more fulfilled. Megyn shows us that it’s okay to jump into the unknown if it means you’re chasing something bigger and better.

If you’re looking for a story of resilience, guts, and a woman who can take a few punches (literally and figuratively), give this book a read. It’s a rollercoaster from lows to highs, with plenty of lessons along the way. Highly recommend it!
