Back in the day, if you wanted to learn how to get rich, you had to earn it just to hear it.
You’d drive for hours. Book a hotel. Buy a ticket. Then sit in an arena with 10,000 people to watch Tony Robbins jump around on stage. Or if you couldn’t swing that, you went to see the regional version of Tony. Same energy, smaller room, headset mic, Holiday Inn ballroom, free coffee that tasted like a tire.
Today? It’s in your pocket. A podcast on the way to work. A YouTube video on your lunch break. Real action items you can act on before your coffee gets cold.
We have more information and more opportunity right now than at any time in the history of the world.
So why isn’t everybody rich?
I clean windows for a living. Have since I was 17, with no car and no money. So let me tell you what I see when I look through the glass.
It’s not the information. It’s YOU. And your confidence. And the failure to take a chance.
I Know Because I Lived It
I spent too long in a bad system.
Years of it. Learning how to get by. Working hard, grinding every day, and telling myself I was making traction. I wasn’t. I was spinning my tires in the mud and calling it progress because the engine was loud.
That’s the sneaky part. A bad system doesn’t feel like failure. It feels like busy. And busy feels like winning right up until you look at your bank account, your calendar, and your family, and realize none of them are getting the best of you.
When I finally learned how to build a business that runs on a real system, everything flipped. My workdays got shorter. My bank account got bigger. And I started living the life I intended instead of the one the business handed me.
Now I see people making the same mistakes I made. Every single day. So let’s walk through them together.
The Three Killers of Wealth
After more than 30 years in business, I’ve watched the same three killers take out good people over and over. Learn to spot them and you’re already ahead of 90% of the crowd.
Killer #1: You Quit Before You Start
This is the first killer, and it’s the quietest one. Nobody sees the business you talked yourself out of.
“I’m not ready.” “I don’t have enough money.” “What if it doesn’t work?” “Maybe next year.”
Next year turns into next decade real fast.
Here’s the lesson. Confidence doesn’t come before action. It comes from action. Nobody feels ready. You get ready by going.
Your move: stop asking “What if it fails?” and start asking “What if it works?” Then go find people who have already done what you want to do and let them show you the way.
Killer #2: You Treat Your Company Like a Job
Some people get past Killer #1. Fantastic. They open the doors. And then they do the one thing that kills more businesses than a bad economy ever will.
They work it. And they work it. And they work it. Until it works them to death.
If you own a business and you’re the one doing everything, answering every call, fixing every problem, doing every job, you don’t own a business. You own a job. And it’s the worst job you’ve ever had, because your boss is a lunatic who never lets you go home.
Here’s the lesson. Your job as the owner is to build the machine, not be the machine.
Your move: write down everything you do in a week. Every task. Then ask one question about each one. “Does this need ME, or does it need a system?” Most of it needs a system. That list is your road out.
Killer #3: You Spend the Harvest
This is the most gruesome twist of fate. And I’ve seen it take out people who did everything else right.
They beat Killer #1. They beat Killer #2. They build a business that throws off all kinds of crazy income.
And then they spend it. All of it.
The new truck. The bigger house. The toys. They spend like the average American instead of saving and storing cash like the small percentage of multi-millionaires and billionaires do.
Remember this one. Rich people buy time. We don’t buy non-revenue producing assets.
Here’s the lesson. Dollars are seeds. You can eat the seeds, or you can plant them. Eat them all and you’re hungry again next season.
Your move: before you spend a dime, give every dollar a job. Some to live on. Some stored as cash for the rainy day that always comes. Some planted back into the business so it grows.
Rich Is One Thing. Wealth Is Another.
Once your business is generating money and supporting your day to day, that’s when you step into real estate.
Forget putting your money in a 401k and waiting. You’re either going to give up time and financial freedom now for a small paycheck that will get you by when you’re 60.
Or you build assets now.
You run a successful business that grows. You take profits and reinvest them into real estate. You rent the real estate. It produces cash and pays for itself. And 20 years later you have an asset that’s paid for and now paying YOU back.
Rich is money in your account. Wealth is money that keeps showing up whether you do or not.
Franchising Is the Map
So what’s the fastest way to get there?
Say you want to drive from Florida to California. You could just start driving west and hope for the best. You’ll probably end up in a Walmart parking lot in Tulsa, asking a stranger for directions.
Or you plug it into the GPS, and boom! Within a few days you go from sittin’ in Miami to chillin’ in LA.
Franchising is that map. It’s one of the fastest and easiest ways to create time and financial freedom, because somebody already drove the road, marked the potholes, and wrote down the directions. A good franchise coaches you through all three killers before they ever get a shot at you.
But don’t listen to the hype. “Work two hours a day and get rich.” Blah, blah, blah. You hear that garbage all the time.
The map does not work unless you do. The GPS won’t press the gas pedal for you. You still need the discipline to follow the directions when your gut says “I think I know a shortcut.”
I spent years in a bad system, so I know exactly what a good one needs to look like. That’s what we built at Window Ninjas. The map I wish somebody had handed me at 17.
Your Move
If you want to earn more, enjoy more time freedom, and live a life of abundance, you can do it. Hell yeah, you can.
But only if you’re disciplined and you follow the road map.
You already have more information than any generation in history. You don’t need another podcast. You need a map, a coach, and the guts to start driving.
I’ve only shown you part of the map here. The rest I’d rather walk through with you personally. If you’re sitting in Miami and ready to get to LA, reach out. Let’s talk.
